Ciao Alessandro,
unfortunately upgrades to the stable version of mutt are done only for
security updates, we are already using 1.5.20 in testing and sid so this
won't be a problem as soon as we transition from Lenny to Squeeze.

The best we can do is to provide a backport of 1.5.20 for Lenny users
through backports.org, does this make sense to you?

Cheers
Antonio
