Has somebody already written a patch for the TCP traceroute? Another tool that contains this feature is LFT (Layer Four Traceroute): http://www.askapache.com/tools/lft-traceroute-tool.html It could be worth a look, also the UDP part (implementation and also how source and destination ports can be set)...
And when all this various protocols will be implemented there could be a combined traceroute that uses all of them at once and shows the different paths with their statistics.
