Yes, I have trouble keeping up with Debian work due to Real Life constrains and would appreciate help fixing the bugs it has. A NMU would be OK, people offering for team-maintenance would help too. In any case, the bug reported is a very minor issue that is not exploitable under common usage of the program. I would have appreciated if the Security Team contacted/probed me directly and offered help fixing this issue rather than contacting the Release Managers straight off. Bug reports, as mailing list emails tend to go to a queue that I don't look as often as email targeted only to me.
