Daniel is probably right, gcrystal is not the problem directly.

I'm seeing the same kind of error in the gnumeric docs.
The Gnumeric front help page complains:

        This page contains the following errors:
        error on line 411 at column 3109: Encoding error
        Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

and only displays up to "4.7. The Information Area"


Clicking on the side bar Function Reference link
(file:////usr/share/gnome/help/gnumeric/C/gnumeric.xml?function-reference) for 
instance, gets the error

        This page contains the following errors:
        error on line 415 at column 849: Specification mandate value for
attribute cl
        Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

and it only displays up to "A.12. Mathematics" (missing a good half a
dozen more sections).
