I've just tried, and I am able to reproduce the bug.

Moreover, I've seen similar problems with other JPEG images when
processing with "exiftran -p -9 -i" or "exiftran -p -2 -i" ...

Moritz, is there any progress on fixing this annoying bug?
Did you forward it to upstream?
