Hi there! I discovered this bug because of #409510 (thanks Matt and forgive me for the X-Debbugs-CC in case you are not interested): http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=409510#45 xpdf-reader ships pdftoppm and I cannot find the reason in the debian/changelog or in upstream documentation.
