Package: netbase
Version: 4.37
Severity: normal

Hi,

I just noticed that
  invoke-rc.d networking restart
does terminate DHCP connections but does not restart them. Fortunately
the machine was in the next room :-)

/etc/network/interfaces (as generated by Debian-installer):

        # The loopback network interface
        auto lo
        iface lo inet loopback

        # The primary network interface
        allow-hotplug eth0
        iface eth0 inet dhcp

/etc/init.d/networking calls
  ifdown -a
which works on all configured interfaces and afterwards calls
  ifup -a
which only works on interfaces marked auto, not allow-hotplug
