Put it into TEXMFHOME = ~/texmf, or TEXMFLOCA = /usr/local/share/texmf.
If you don't know where to move the files, get
http://ftp.math.utah.edu/pub//texlive/tlnet/archive/achemso.tar.xz
un-xz it
xz -d achemso.tar.xz
then
cd ~/texmf
tar -xvf ......./achemso.tar
