As a one-time shot, try LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 dpkg --pending --configure If that works, you can put a first line like this: % -*- Coding: utf-8 -*- into tkz-doc.cls to let Emacs know this file is in UTF-8. > BTW I have also updated emacs-snapshot-gtk today, and that update > worked flawlessly! The coding system detection has been improved in emacs-snapshot, it detects tkz-doc.cls as UTF-8 even in a latin-9 environment.
