Package: debbugs Version: 2.4.1 Severity: wishlist Hi!
I would have never thought that I would find myself filing a "please package new upstream version" wishlist bug against a Debian native package! ;-) Nonetheless, here I am: the Debian BTS is a great bug tracking system with many useful and nice features. It is completely Free Software, released under the terms of the GNU GPL v2. All this wonderful bug tracking system is deployed on bugs.debian.org, and has been improved many times, as far as I can see, in the last few years. Yet, the engine behind all this, that is to say debbugs, is not included in Debian, or, to be more precise, *is* included, but in a heavily outdated version, correct me if I'm wrong: last upload was performed in 2003, as far as I can see. I think this situation is awkward: an updated debbugs version should be made easy to install on Debian boxes, so that other organizations could easily benefit from the advanced features of the Debian BTS engine, should they choose to deploy it for their infrastructure. Please upload a new version (and begin doing so more regularly!). This upload would close a huge amount of pending bugs, among other nice effects.
