Logs and the index. This is the directory listing a while after I
allowed it to write there (trimmed):

  amdump index/ log.20090426.3
  amdump.1 log curinfo/

My apologies if I should have opened a new bug. I was treating
the bug as widened by Ben Hutchings:

rather than the original scope of the bug, which was just the tapelist.

Would you like me to open a new bug for the path problems I have
observed?
