After upgrading dictd on a server (and changing the configuration as
required) I tried to connect from home and discovered:

1) dictl -h $server -D -v
gives "no databases present"

2) dictl -h $server -D -v -u $user -k $pass
works as expected

Debugging with wireshark shows that in case 2) the client sends an
"auth" command, in case 1) it just request the list of dbs.

from my ~/.dictrc:

server $server { user $user $pass }

Cheers,
gregor
