Package: aufs-modules
Version: 2.6.26-1
As several bug reports in Debian and my own experience show, AUFS in
Debian Lenny is badly broken.
It does work standalone, but as soon as nfs or samba or some other file
system gets involved, it does segfault if called from init and give
other error messages when called later from shell.
A stack trace from init can be seen in bug # 510573 which is not resolved.
When called later from a shell, the following errors have been observed:
[ 713.236312] aufs au_xino_create2:622:mount[2942]: .aufs.xino create
err -2
[ 713.240116] aufs au_xino_set:1139:mount[2942]: I/O Error, failed
creating xino, forcing noxino (-2).
[ 753.520607] aufs test_add:367:mount[2960]: uid/gid/perm /s_ro
0/0/0755, 0/0/0777
[ 753.523618] aufs verify_opts:1320:mount[2960]: first branch should be rw
[ 794.993100] aufs test_add:367:mount[2983]: uid/gid/perm /s_ro
0/0/0755, 0/0/0777
[ 795.951256] aufs au_xino_create2:622:mount[2983]: .aufs.xino create
err -2
[ 795.966306] aufs au_xino_set:1139:mount[2983]: I/O Error, failed
creating xino, forcing noxino (-2).
[ 821.521755] aufs test_add:367:mount[3010]: uid/gid/perm /s_ro
0/0/0755, 0/0/0777
[ 822.486718] aufs au_xino_create2:622:mount[3010]: .aufs.xino create
err -2
[ 822.499927] aufs au_xino_set:1139:mount[3010]: I/O Error, failed
creating xino, forcing noxino (-2).
The developper of aufs writes that it is better to use newer versions of
aufs2, but imho Lenny should provide a stable solution usable with
vanilla kernels.
This bug prevents using aufs for tft booting in combination with aufs.
