Hi! Inkscapes Effect->Color->Grayscale convertor fails to convert [0] into Grayscale (does not show any effect). The Image is valid SVG 1.0 according to W3C's validation service [1]. Discussion on IRC turned up that fiddling with Opacity does fix this Problem for some *other* SVGs but not for this one.
