Package: microcode.ctl
Version: 1.17-9
Severity: wishlist

We use one image for all our clients. Most of them use Athlon processors
but there are some Intels. The output on the Xen domU which provides the
master image was as follows:

Downloading a new version of microcode.
microcode downloaded sucessfully
/etc/init.d/microcode.ctl: microcode not found in
/usr/share/misc/intel-microcode.tiny.dat
................................................................................/etc/init.d/microcode.ctl:
 microcode device /dev/cpu/microcode doesn't exist!
/etc/init.d/microcode.ctl: microcode not found in
/usr/share/misc/intel-microcode.tiny.dat
................................................................................/etc/init.d/microcode.ctl:
 microcode device /dev/cpu/microcode doesn't exist!

There was also quite some delay, and I see in the init script that it
will wait for 8s for a device to appear. It would be nice if the
script could just abort if no Intel processor can be found.

Kind regards,
