Hmm. The section on /var/run/ in the policy doesn't include anything
regarding persistence, however there are numerous references to the
usage of RAMRUN=yes, and also numerous bugs against other packages which
have opened and subsequently fixed.
Where do you find these references?
dpkg -L debian-policy | xargs grep -i ramrun
yields no matches.
I see your point about the bugs, but how should a maintainer know that
by reading the policy?
