Package: sl-modem-daemon Version: 2.9.11~20080817-1 Severity: important Hello,
slmodemd from the Debian package doesn't work for me, and I can't seem to kill the process, even with "kill -9". When I compile version 2.9.11 from upstream, it works fine. I tracked the problem down to a particular patch: debian/patches/10_drop_privileges.diff Without that patch, the Debian package works fine for me. I'm using the alsa driver, so my slmodemd command is: # slmodemd -a --debug (running /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon has the same problem) Here's the output before the process becomes unkillable: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # slmodemd -a --debug SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Jan 15 2009 18:32:56 <182.406692> SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Jan 15 2009 18:32:56 <182.406764> modem:1: startup modem... <182.406913> modem:1: update termios... symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/4' created. modem `modem:1' created.
