Package: checkinstall Version: 1.6.1-8 Severity: normal
Hi, I downloaded gthumb 2.10.10 from ftp.gnome.org and unpacked it, ran ./configure make checkinstall make install when I had gthumb 3:2.10.8 already installed. The installation failed due to the checkinstall trying to overwrite some files split out as gthumb-data, but the gthumb binary remained installed and the old gthumb binary was not reverted to the existing version. aptitude still listed the 3:2.10.8 as installed, but I had to reinstall 3:2.10.8 to fix things up. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.28 (SMP w/1 CPU core; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages checkinstall depends on: ii dpkg-dev 1.14.24 Debian package development tools ii file 4.26-2 Determines file type using "magic" ii findutils 4.4.0-2 utilities for finding files--find, ii libc6 2.7-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries Versions of packages checkinstall recommends: ii make 3.81-5 The GNU version of the "make" util Versions of packages checkinstall suggests: ii gettext 0.17-6 GNU Internationalization utilities -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
