Is this consistent with a particular .wav or is it difficult to reproduce?

It is not bound to a particular *.ogg file, and it is difficult
to reproduce. Some *.ogg files seem to have a very high probability
to show the problem. But if I try again, then the problem goes away
sometimes.

Its not related to a high load on my PC, either: I ran 15 sessions
to convert the same number of albums in parallel, and only a few
songs died.

BTW, kernel is 2.6.27.10 . I tried reiserfs and ext3, and I could
reproduce the problem using an USB stick for storage (ext3), instead
of a local disk.

Looking for "Error: buffer write failed." on Google I found

        http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/AmaKode?content=48218

This seems to be a very similar problem, even though I am not using
Amarok.
