Subject: libnss-ldapd: problem with debconf configuration
Package: libnss-ldapd

(this bug is to prevent me from forgetting and to add comments to)

There is a problem in nss-ldapd when installing for the first time
through apt. The script that does the debconf prompting guesses sane
defaults based on the environment (existing configuration, other
configuration files, domain name, etc).

The problem is that what installed through apt it is preconfigured which
will cause it to pick up values from the environment and use those as
defaults when prompting the used. On installation it will re-guess but
not ask the used because the user was already asked.

I've asked the debconf maintainers:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/debconf-devel/2008-November/002199.html

(nasty that I only ran into this now because with most the testing I did
I used dpkg directly which doesn't do the preconfiguring)
