I could also install ubuntu packages by hand using dpkg. Or I could set up a mirror that claims to be a debian mirror and contains ubuntu packages. All three cases are vanishingly unlikely, and will break my system eventually anyway, so are not something debian packages should be catering to. -- see shy jo
