If alien required software that was not in Debian to do *anything*
useful, then it would be unacceptably buggy to be in Debian.

However, if alien has a completly optional, and frankly, utterly obscure
and basically never used feature that requires software not in Debian, that's
a completly different matter.

So your argument that alien be moved to contrib is patently absurd, as
is this bug report.
