Hi, Joey
i think a Debian package is not allowed to use nor assume external, possibly
non-GPL tools outside the Debian repository. In fact, if current alien package
makes use of software installable outside dpkg and the latter is not
compatible with GPL, the package should be moved to "contrib", shouldn't be?
I don't know if that's the point with current Sun pkg tools, but as long as
the command exits with an error when using "-p" option i think it would be
suitable to print a warning at least, if not to remove the "-p" option
completely until a .deb for pkg tools exists in the Debian repository.

> How are these not being available in Debian a bug in alien?

Because it's not a bug in alien itself, but (IMHO) a bug in the alien Debian
package.

regards.
