Yes, have already been reportede that ftp.nz.debian.org has some issues from time to time. You can try from the other NZ mirror (a leaf one), or any other mirror as long as you get good throughput. For that, since you are over satellite, don't forget to tune your TCP parameters (increase the default and max window size, enable window scaling).
