I tried to narrow down the code to the function which is the most linked
to iproute

You can find it at

If you download the tar, you can just run make to build the sample.

You will see that the code is partly a duplication from iproute code,
and this is the reason why the header are needed. But likely there must
be a cleaner way to do that.

This function is giving you your local IP used to go to a given ip, you
can run the test with 

test-ip <remove_ip>
