 I can totally relate. Personally I think it was always meant to be bold
only, not explicitly set to white, too ...

 Yes, thanks. When the background is set too there is no need to touch
it.

 Tried to talk about it with upstream, though was not yet able to
completely convince them, got told that one could always choose a
different theme. I still think that it's a proper aproach (the default
theme should work for default terminals) and will apply it to the Debian
package at least.
