That is a bug we cannot handle (now), mktexfmt/fmtutil is not
intelligent enough (missing understanding of engine setting).
You should do
as root:
- edit /etc/texmf/fmt.d/20context.cnf and add a line
cont-en xetex cont-usr.tex -8bit -etex *cont-en.ini
(alternatively you can create a local file under /etc/texmf/fmt.d)
- call update-fmtutil
- call
fmtutil-sys --cnffile /etc/texmf/fmt.d/20context.cnf --all
That will create a format file for context/xetex.
