Package: pidgin

This is regarding this patch in the Debian package:
    debian/patches/03_gconf-gstreamer.patch

Can you explain why this patch exists in Debian?

Currently, Pidgin upstream looks to create a gconfaudiosink under GNOME.
If that fails or when not running GNOME, it tries to create an
autoaudiosink. Pidgin in Debian (and Ubuntu) uses gconfaudiosink right
away. A patch [0] has been submitted upstream to eliminate all this
behavior and let playbin do the work for us. I'm looking to determine
which is correct and do the same thing everywhere if possible.

Thanks,
Richard
