Four years later I'm a much better sysadmin than I was then (I hope),
and I don't mind using LDAP, NIS, or some other centralized database to
manage login information on multiple hosts.

I don't even remember what situation prompted me to make the suggestion.
I think Alexander is right about my original motivation, but I don't
think it's worth anyone's time to put any energy into the feature.

Now I'm wondering what other silly wishlist bugs I filed so long ago.

It's fine with me if you close the bug.
