Quoting Santiago Vila ([EMAIL PROTECTED]):
Santiago, you mentioned two options:
a) It is likely that pine will eventually be replaced by alpine
(once alpine is mature enough).
b) There should be a mta-base package on which packages like this
may depend, so that we do not duplicate the same debconf questions
about /etc/mailname and /etc/news/server over and over again
in every package managing those files.
b) didn't happen
So, should a) be the option?
Yes. See Bug#405762. Asheesh seems to be on the way of applying a
maildir patch to alpine.
Well, what is the status of #405762, thenĀ ?
Hi!
My understading of Santiago's claims above is that once #405762 is
fixed, a call for removal can be sent for pine.
If that's correct, please do your best to apply that maildir
patch. After all, a bug related to a lenny release goal depends on
that.
Right-o.
Eduardo Chappa has very vague licensing on the Maildir patch, but
debian-legal seemed to think it was okay -
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg37693.html .
So I guess since hte licensing issue isn't actually an issue, I'll
integrate it in the next release of the package!
