This bug has still not seen any activity since ages. Santiago, you mentioned two options:
a) It is likely that pine will eventually be replaced by alpine (once alpine is mature enough). b) There should be a mta-base package on which packages like this may depend, so that we do not duplicate the same debconf questions about /etc/mailname and /etc/news/server over and over again in every package managing those files. b) didn't happen So, should a) be the option? otherwise and even though pine is non-free, I'll probably NMU the package at least to get rid of one of the very last (is not the latest) switch to po-debconf bugs. --
