Package: po4a
Version: 0.33-1
Severity: minor

man(1) has a complicated bit where it defines a "soft-hyphen" string as
follows:

  .ie c \[shc] \
  . ds soft-hyphen \[shc]
  .el \
  . ds soft-hyphen \(hy

... and then uses it like this in input text preprocessed by tbl:

  continuation [EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]

The new Polish translation looks like this:

  # type: tbl table
  #: ../man1/man.man1:792
  #, no-wrap
  msgid "continuation [EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
  msgstr "[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Unfortunately, this comes out like this when passed through
po4a-translate:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Note the extra backslash. Now compare the rendering of the English and
Polish pages:

              continuation hyphen 255 -

              łącznik 255 hyphen] -

I'll probably change the string name to 'softhyphen' or similar to work
around this bug, but could you change po4a to avoid mangling '-' inside
\*[...] string variable escapes?

Thanks,
