Thanks; this was due to netcat-traditional removing the wrong path after the package name was changed, so if you don't want to install/uninstall again (-37 will work properly), you can remove it from the database by hand: update-alternatives --remove nc /bin/nc.traditional update-alternatives --set nc /bin/nc.openbsd Sorry for the inconvenience. -- things change.
