Ah, that explains why. I think you are making things a little too complex :-) You can use ijsgimpprint with the CUPS system. Printing looks like this (oversimplified somewhat!): cups -> foomatic -> gs -> ijsgimpprint Printing with cupsys-driver-gimpprint is like this: cups -> rastertoprinter (rastertoprinter is the gimp-print driver name). This is the "easy option", which I highly recommend (I don't fully understand all the foomatic stuff either!). The driver you want should be under "EPSON": "Epson Stylus Photo 2200 - CUPS+Gimp-Print v4.2.7 (en)" There's a setup guide in the gimpprint-doc package which you might find useful. There is a missing dependency here, but it's not in this package. What is the output of `dpkg --get-selections | grep foomatic`? It should be added as a Depends or Recommends to whichever package makes > "Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Foomatic/gimp-print-ijs". available to CUPS.
