It's hard to tell which one will work. It seems to me alot of kernels have such problem on some hardware. You could for instance try the kernels from stable (2.6.18) and testing (2.6.22). I don't know if they support your hardware. Maybe you can even try the one from oldstable (2.6.8). > * I assume I should pare down the list of servers. It could be that if you only have 1 server, or prefer a server, that it might try to sync to that one.
