after many trials with different parts of vimrc deleted I discovered:

I can reproduce the problem AS LONG AS isfname=@,32,48-57,/,.,-,_,+,,,#,$,%,~,=
I CANNOT reproduce it when I revert to default 
isfname=@,48-57,/,.,-,_,+,,,#,$,%,~,=

curious:  whether the concerning directory holds filenames containing spaces or 
not does NOT matter


if I can contribute any further information helpful for bugfixing let me know,
I'll try my best
