As part of the German (debconf) translation team, I stronly second Christians point. Yes, this would be the ideal solution. Simply including it would also be sufficient because as Christian said those would be picked up and dealt with automatically (well, not the translation of course) and - using the (outdated) translation - the previous translator would be located who could recuse his old translation (and even if only for certain phrase or special terms he carfully chose during his initial translation.
