Hi,

Thanks for always writing so quickly. Unfortunately I am very busy working most of the time and often do not have enough time to send bug reports, much less help develop software for Linux as I would love to do.

The GMX IMAP server refuses me authorisation. I suspect they only offer IMAP to paying customers. This may actually be the answer to all these problems---maybe they just want to make their free access unpleasant.

Have you seen http://faq.gmx.de/messages/mailprogramme/imap/4.html for IMAP configuration?

I'll send you my post in a minute. This is exactly why I usually prefer the Bug Tracking System: I am glad to report bugs, give all details and answer questions---this is the least thing I can do to support the concept of Free Software. But I just do not have the time to subscribe, read error messages, write to list administrators, re-send messages... just to report one bug.

Understood.

Sorry, all this is certainly not your fault. Best wishes,

It's okay. Thanks for keeping in touch.

I think you will find that if you make time to ask alpine-info, they'll be pretty good about replying to you. If you don't have time for that, and you're still stuck behind POP3, I'm afraid your life won't improve on this issue. (-:

But POP3 sucks - hopefully you can get IMAP working there.

If not, if you were me, you'd just run your own IMAP server on a computer you own and install fetchmail to slurp the POP3 mail down.

No matter what - keep reporting bugs. (-:
