Unfortunately not. Wine packages are regularly updated (as I'm running
lenny/sid), but I just removed my ~/.wine directory, installed firefox
and tested only to see the same network access failure. I'm using
vmware to run Windows (when I need to) so I'm ready to forget wine
altogether. This is incredibly frustrating and very disappointing.
On another note, maybe I can create a user on this computer give you
access (through vnc) and you could test things and see why this is
happening on this system. Is there no one else experiencing anything
like this anywhere else?
I haven't heard of too many cases, no. You're running an up-to-date
lenny? And sure, if you give me ssh access, I could maybe make a
getaddrinfo test program and run on it.
