I'm not sure what would be considered "right" there, but I'm inclined to
say that since . is a valid character in a URL it should be selected.
On logical grounds I'm inclined to agree. OTOH, it's fairly common to see
cases where the "." is intended to be a sentence period, not a part of the
URL.
I agree that my original complaint seems fixed.
