This causes package installation to fail if tetex-bin is not installed locally (the fonts ARE useful on their own, as the fonts may be used by files generated from TeX output, such as postscript or pdf files).

User B at a different site finds the pdf file on the web page and views it with xpdf. By having ex-fonts-mftraced installed, xpdf can correctly display the document even though the user does not have TeX itself installed.
