I've just prodded upstream about the issue. Thanks for the quick response. I hope it will be included upstream soon as it makes life quite a bit easier in our network. The alternative, discovering LDAP servers directly via DHCP, only seems to be used by Apple (option code 95) and its future seems not too bright (see RFC 3679). I guess that is why it hasn't be adopted in the dhcp packages. I would highly prefer the use of SRV records over DHCP.
