 Just got this issue when trying to setup a cowbuilder chroot for i386
 under amd64!

 I don't know exactly where ilist files etc. currently live, but perhaps
 it's possible to add a version information in the file and list the
 inode_t size of chroot in this file?  It would be nice if chroots could
 be copied across hosts.
