Hi,

this looks like a problem with your GConf settings.

Can you change other settings on your desktop without problems?

Please show us the output of the following command:
for source in xml::/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory xml::$HOME/.gconf
xml::/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults xml::/var/lib/gconf/debian.defaults
xml::/var/lib/gconf/defaults; do gconftool --config-source=$source --get
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/motion_acceleration; done

Also, do you have sabayon or desktop-profiles installed, or did you have
them installed in the past?

Thanks,
