What changed on your system to cause kde to start segfaulting? Did it happen in the middle of an upgrade? Does root have access to your DISPLAY? What does the crash actually look like? (Downgrading this bug as it doesn't meet the criteria for RC bugs; there is a simple documented workaround, and the kde frontend is not enabled by default anyway.) -- see shy jo
