Package: virtualbox-source
Version: 1.4.0svn4130-dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

The virtualbox-modules packages' postinst attempts to modprobe the
module, which fails if the current kernel doesn't have the module. For
example, I'm preparing the upgrade to 2.6.22-2, but currently running
2.6.22-1; so I didn't bother compiling virtualbox-modules for 2.6.22-1.
The virtualbox-modules for 2.6.22-2 then fails during its postinst...

A quick fix would (I imagine) be to check that the currently running
kernel matches the version for which the module was compiled before
attempting the modprobe.

A more complete fix could perhaps be similar to that used by kqemu: have
a -common package with an init.d script which loads the module...
Alternatively, the best solution might be to wrap virtualbox itself and
load/unload the module so that it's loaded while virtualbox is running.

Regards,

Stephen
