I have multiple versions of GCC, but 4.1.3 is the default:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.3 20070812 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-15)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gcc-4.2 --version
gcc-4.2 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Debian 4.2.1-2)
Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is

Valgrind version is the same as Doug:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ valgrind --version
valgrind-3.2.3-Debian

I noticed this problem with R 2.5.1 (binary from Debian unstable or
source from CRAN); do you want me to try the SVN version of R?

Thanks,
Ben
