Regarding #268246 "'showkey -k' and 'showkey -s' produce the same information"...
According to the setkeycodes(1) man page, "It is hardwired in the current kernel that in the range 1-88 (0x01-0x58) keycode equals scancode." So the results should be the same for most keys. I'm only able to get different results by pressing some of the extra "multimedia" keys on my laptop keyboard. I don't think this is a bug.
