I think upstream is unlikely to be resurrected, at least, without SourceForge allowing a "hostile" takeover of the project, since he can't seem to be contacted.

With that in mind, I suggest that the dailystrips-update script come with a health warning, preferably in the README.Debian file and dailystrips-update manpage, as at the moment running it will actually downgrade one's definitions, in effect.
