Luckily the upstream code is already "fixed" but #ifdef'ed (just checked the debian source packages), all what is needed is a to compile with #define VNC_USE_FB (--with-fb option). I built new packages but i will only be able to test them next week. I don't understand why upstream didn't just switch to use the fb layer (instead of cfb/mfb) as default, apparenlty the other layers are deprecated in xfree/xorg.
